Principles-focused evaluation is evaluation that is organised around principles, not goals or compliance with processes. It is particularly relevant for evaluating interventions that are complex and emergent. This webinar explains how to develop principles that are actually principles (and not rules or assumptions), how to evaluate them in terms of how well they are understood, whether practice is consistent with them, and whether they are leading to the desired results. It presents a guide for effective principles, organised around the acronym GUIDE: Guiding, Useful, Inspiring, Developmental and Evaluable.

This video provides an excellent and free introduction to principles-focused evaluation. It has lots of examples and an engaging series of questions and answers.
