QuIP in action: Save the Children case study

This resource provides an example of the use of the Qualitative Impact Assessment Protocol (QuIP) approach in evaluations of Save the Children's programmes.

The QuIP methodology was employed to evaluate Save the Children's programs in three countries; Tanzania, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. The projects focused on "improving the nutritional status of women and children in marginalised households".

QuIP was selected as the projects were set in complex contexts and the approach made it possible to seek evidence where other data was scarce. It was important to Save the Children that the evaluations used an approach that focused on the view of the project beneficiaries.

Causal maps were also used and found to be important and useful in communicating findings and planning for future projects.
