CLEAR Afrique francophone (CLEAR FA), as part of the Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI), is organizing the 1st edition of a training seminar on "Evaluation of policies and programs sensitive to children, adolescents, and youth" from November 13 to 17, 2023 in Dakar, Senegal.

This event will discuss the importance of policies and programs for children, adolescents, and youth (CAY) in Africa, emphasizing the need for evaluation to assess their effectiveness. The event highlights that young people represent about 70% of Africa's population and that investments in CAY policies align with the Sustainable Development Goals and the African Union's Agenda 2063. However, there is limited evaluation of these policies and programs, raising questions about their impact and the techniques needed for assessment.

The seminar aims to enhance the capacities of professionals working on improving the well-being and rights of children and young people. It offers a conceptual overview of evaluation stages, encourages peer exchange, and emphasizes engaging CAYs in the evaluation process.

The seminar was conceived in 2022 by CLEAR FA with contributions from several national and international experts, including development practitioners and academics. In partnership with UNICEF WCARO, it was peer-tested in March 2023, resulting in new content, including case studies.
