Our progress towards a sustainable future has often been slow and lately disrupted by various crises. This has led to a growing consensus on the urgent need for transformative change.

In recent years, there has been increasing discussion within the global evaluation community about how evaluation can contribute to this transformative change. This transformation aims to address major development challenges by sustainable systems change.

This goal goes beyond the traditional role evaluators often play. It challenges us to rethink the scope, focus, and tools of evaluation, urging a paradigm shift in how we approach our work and our roles as evaluators and agents of change.

gLOCAL 2024 invites the global evaluation community to explore the role evaluation can play in driving transformational change, including transforming evaluation itself. To effectively address major challenges like climate change, poverty, inequality, violence, and conflict, we must revolutionize our practices, embracing new perspectives and methodologies.

At this event, diverse evaluation practitioners from various regions and sectors will lead discussions on how evaluation can contribute to transformative change. They will encourage participants to broaden their understanding of issues such as climate change, human rights, gender, and conflict, considering perspectives of decolonization, participation, gender equality, and social justice.

The event will feature a round table format, blending brief insights from six panelists with interactive engagement with the audience. The interactive segments will involve posing simplified versions of the same questions posed to the panelists and offering the audience an opportunity to give their answers.

The event will be conducted in English with simultaneous translation available in French, Portuguese, and Spanish.
