Monitoring and Evaluation in the public and non-profit sectors has become critical in designing and implementing programs in complex social contexts. There is a growing need to define appropriate program indicators, design fit-for-purpose monitoring systems, and apply sound theoretical basis to program design and evaluation.

This diploma seeks to improve students' abilities to evaluate projects and make decisions, using traditional financial methodologies, incorporating strategic considerations and making use of all the information available in the industry. The diploma teaches the essentials of building a cash flow, calculating the net present value (NPV), and other profitability indicators. It covers both conceptual topics, such as relevant costs and benefits, as well as practical and technical subjects. With a focus on strategy, it demonstrates how to assess a competitive advantage and take into account forces that may impact the long-term sustainability of returns, such as imitation and substitution. The program also offers a strategic view of projects, tools for their control, financial knowledge, and mathematical simulation.

This program aims to develop essential skills for evaluating public interventions in the Quebec, Canadian, and international governments, as well as for managing evaluation projects. It is relevant for anyone looking to understand the dynamics and unique aspects of public management and to enhance their key skills in supporting public administration management. Additionally, the program can meet the needs of professionals in the private sector or non-profit organizations (NPOs).

The graduate certificate in Community-Engaged Research and Evaluation equips students with the knowledge, attitudes, and skills to conduct authentic community-engaged research and evaluation, which is based on the premise that communities (individuals, organizations, and agencies) have the best understandings of their own assets, needs, values, and activities. Researchers and evaluators work in partnership with communities to construct questions and methods, collect data, and interpret results to develop the practical knowledge and tools that can resolve locally relevant problems.

This program offers you applied courses in methods for evaluating programs and services. You can serve as an evaluator in schools, health, government, and/or nonprofit agencies.

This Master’s program is designed to offer professionals and students the opportunity to apply principles of learning, cognition, and motivation to vital problems in the area of education; develop a solid understanding of research, assessment, and evaluation methodologies; and develop an analytical and scholarly approach to critically assessing theoretical perspectives, research, and practice within and across content domains. By participating in a supportive and collegial environment with faculty from numerous educational disciplines and expertise, students develop the skills to meet the needs of diverse populations and design and implement effective educational programs appropriate for a broad range of cultural contexts.

This program offers a global vision of the main tools and methodologies for evaluating public policies and programs.

The program engages students in systematic research and study designed to improve the quality of grant writing and program evaluation within local governments, nonprofits, educational settings, and criminal justice and public service agencies. The course content emphasizes competence in the language of grants, proposal development, funding sources and processes, designing and writing creative proposal letters, creating budgets, developing effective evaluation tools, and understanding fiscal management functions and regulations. The certificate is designed for people interested in professional careers in, or careers that include, grant writing, grant management, and/or program evaluation.

Our program offers degrees focused solely on quantitative methods. Funded students get valuable experience as departmental research or teaching assistants, as graduate assistants in affiliated areas on campus, or on contract/assistantship work in partnership with research/testing agencies in the Washington, DC area. Graduate students are heavily involved in research projects, with over 80% presenting at national and international conferences, and many publishing in leading academic journals.
