Pensions, Poverty and Household Investments in Bolivia

This paper analyses the effect of the BONOSOL pension on the well-being of elderly Bolivians and finds a range of positive effects of the program on the lives of impoverished households.

The "study uses a regression discontinuity framework which is applied to the pre and post treatment periods. The regression discontinuity design takes advantage of a quasi-experiment introduced by some known eligibility criteria, in this case the discontinuity introduced by the 65 year age requirement for eligibility to the BONOSOL program."
