The programs emphasize the design and conduct of research and evaluation, development and application of new techniques, analysis and interpretation of data in the context of theory and practice, and critical examination of research-based claims. Our goal is to prepare individuals who can critically examine research and evaluation, develop data collection designs and instruments, and conduct conceptual and statistical analyses appropriate to the field of education as well as other behavioral and social sciences.

The program is designed for students from diverse academic majors who have an interest in the application of psychological theories and research to improving learning, instruction, and training, in a variety of instructional contexts. Students are able to tailor the program to meet their particular needs and interests by choosing among a large variety of courses for their concentration, including courses in teaching, instructional design and technology, program evaluation, and psychological foundations. Specialization and core courses are offered in the areas of the psychology of teaching and learning, motivation, human development, measurement, and research methodology.

By earning the certificate, students will acquire the skills and knowledge needed to take on the responsibilities of conducting evaluations – or making sure they are an informed consumers capable of commissioning an evaluation from an external source.

This online program is designed for educators and other professionals who wish to develop expertise in quantitative research methodology, psychometrics, educational measurement, and/or program evaluation. The program is designed for professionals seeking to become more knowledgeable about research methods, measurement, and evaluation. Furthermore, it is an ideal graduate degree for recent bachelor’s graduates who have entered, or are entering the workforce, and are interested in developing expertise in research methods, quantitative analysis, measurement, and program evaluation.

This graduate program is designed for educators and other professionals who wish to develop expertise in quantitative research methodology, psychometrics, educational measurement, and/or program evaluation. Our graduates work in a variety of settings including higher education, testing companies, state departments of education, and research firms. The campus-based Master’s program emphasizes the application of quantitative research methods, measurement and evaluation theory and procedures. We encourage students to supplement their coursework with courses in other discipline areas that best suit their individual goals and objectives.

The program prepares graduates to become leaders in educational measurement, test-theory, program evaluation, large-scale and classroom-based assessment practice, educational statistics, quantitative methodology, and educational research methods. Our graduates pursue careers in academia, testing and research companies, evaluation firms, state departments of education, and school districts. The program integrates theory and practice to promote the scientific uses of measurement within the field of education and related disciplines. Coursework focuses on current and emerging topics including causality and causal inference, instrument development, classical and modern measurement theory and applications, item response theory, multivariate statistical techniques, multilevel modeling, latent variable modeling, statistical programming, and educational assessment. Emphasis is on the development of professional competencies in these areas.

The program is intended to prepare students in the basics of program evaluation across the fields of human services, education, public policy, health and other program and policy areas through thoughtful, effective and ethical use of evaluation models and methods. The certificate is aligned with the American Evaluation Association’s Guiding Principles for Evaluators and Evaluator Competencies.

This is a fully online interdisciplinary program intended to prepare students to contribute to human service, education, public policy, health, and other program and policy areas through thoughtful, effective, and ethical use of evaluation models and methods. Students completing the program will earn two certificates for their core coursework: (1) a Program Evaluation Theory and Design Certificate and (2) a Research Methods Certificate.

The program helps students develop cutting edge research skills and turn them into tools for social change. Whether students want to advance their career as part of a school system, nonprofit or corporation, they will learn how to use data to become a leader and trusted decision-maker their your organizations.

The program goes beyond educational research to include social, behavioral and health research. Students will develop advanced and holistic analytical skills that will help them use data as a tool for promoting social justice and the public good.
