This program is designed to help students develop skills in data analysis, educational research design and evaluation assessment through the courses offered by faculty, by participating in research projects with faculty, and by conducting their own research projects. Graduates of the program find work as researchers, psychometricians, and data analysts in testing companies, research and evaluation companies, universities, school districts, state and federal agencies.

The program prepares M.Ed. students to become research methodologists by requiring the completion of comprehensive coursework in educational research methodology, educational statistics, and program evaluation, engaging students in collaborative projects with faculty, and providing opportunities for students to present research.

This program is designed to prepare exceptional and highly qualified researchers and teachers for academic positions and other educational settings, methodology consultants for state and private organizations, and evaluators for various grant organizations. It is open to students who hold only a bachelor’s degree and to students who have already completed a graduate degree.

The program prepares professionals to meet the high demand for well-trained specialists in program evaluation, particularly in educational settings. Program evaluation is a rapidly growing field, both nationally and internationally. Jobs are available in public and private sectors, including federal and state agencies, school districts, community-based institutions, hospitals, and research consulting firms.

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to design and administer meaningful assessments, assess the quality of the data prior to statistical analysis, evaluate outcomes with confidence and communicate effectively with stakeholders and colleagues.

The program provides training and hands-on experience with the foundational quantitative methods techniques that are at the core of methods used in data science, applied statistics, and educational measurement. This program offers both thesis and non-thesis options. Both options are intended for students seeking positions that call for competence in educational measurement and research methodology; however, the thesis option is intended for students who plan to take advanced work in statistical methods or educational measurement at the Ph.D. level.

The program provides training and hands-on experience with the cutting-edge quantitative methods techniques used in data science, applied statistics, educational measurement, and machine learning. Students will also learn theory, methods, professional ethics, and methodological best practices in quantitative research methodology.

This program is designed for students with strong interests in research methods and their applications. Students pursuing Doctoral degrees in other programs may enroll in a dual degree program leading to the Master'sdegree in Measurement, Statistics and Evaluation, or there is also a 21-credit certificate program for doctoral students.
